Where We Are Now

Where We Are Now

The worshipping community has seen growth in all areas over the two years. Eleven people have joined the church. Sadly we have also lost members through illness and death, which leaves a growth of around 40%. There is new life and hope. The worship is alive and relevant to peoples lives today. All church members help and join in with church life where they are able. People are once again beginning to enjoy the different aspects of church life. In the first year we saw the change in worship and witness and the start of clubs for children and adults, but very little response to special events or services.
Now, however, once again we are starting to see families attending special services and occasionally on normal Sundays. We always have children’s work prepared. Bridges are slowly being built. Finance is still difficult, but for the first time in many years the parish share has been paid in full.

Of the original Team, three are no longer with us. It cannot be measured how much work the Team has done. They have knocked on doors, visited, delivered information and have been involved in all aspects of church life. Officially the Team ends in a few weeks, but members feel the time for them to leave has not yet come as the future of St Mark’s is not yet secure. The advantage of having a Team mostly from one church has been a positive experience for all. The receiving church has been gracious and loving in acceptance. There has been a God-given act of grace and maturity of faith beyond what we ever expected and it has been a blessing to be part of the last two years. Our advantage has been to have a Team of God-given willing helpers. The work is hard, the workers are often few, but the harvest is waiting.
